About the Owners of The Box Hop

The dream behind The Box Hop was born out of the aspirations and passion of Emily and Seth, who reside in Columbus, Ohio, alongside their three children. Seth had nurtured the dream of constructing a home using shipping containers since his college days. Despite having numerous ambitious dreams, this particular one remained close to his heart for many years.

Throughout their lives, Emily and Seth have cherished Hocking Hills as a beloved destination for hiking, camping, and exploration. They have shared countless memorable experiences with friends and family, embarking on trips to celebrate holidays, bachelor/bachelorette parties, weddings, showers, or simply for the sheer joy of it. Hocking Hills offers a perfect blend of breathtaking natural wonders conveniently located near the city. It was only fitting that their retreat be nestled in the heart of the Hocking Hills region.

After a year of prayerful planning and seven months of dedication, perseverance, early mornings, and late nights, Emily and Seth accomplished their dream. They built their very first home, the OG Box Hop, using three shipping containers. In December 2019, they completed the construction of a smaller cabin called the Boho Box Hop. This charming retreat, serving as a cozy “mother-in-law suite,” comprises two shipping containers and features a lofted bedroom.
